How to Skip the Line at Shanghai Disneyland: Disney Premier Access Guide (2026)

On a Saturday afternoon last December, the Zootopia queue hit 110 minutes. TRON was at 80. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train: 90. That is 4 hours 40 minutes of standing for three rides — and most visitors only have one day.

Shanghai Disneyland’s Disney Premier Access (DPA) is a paid skip-the-line system that lets you bypass those queues. Below I compare every bundle and its price on each platform, and say which rides are worth paying for.

All Your Line-Skipping Options

The best strategy: Combining early entry with the Adventure Set of 6 can cover 10 attractions and both shows by 5 PM — with time for the parade and dinner.

Here are all the ways to reduce your wait times, ranked by impact:

1. Disney Premier Access (DPA) — Paid skip-the-line passes. Buy for a single ride (from ¥140, varies by date) or in bundles covering 3–15 attractions. This is the main line-skipping option and the focus of this guide.
2. Early Park Entry Pass — Enter up to one hour before general opening for a price that varies by date (about ¥160–200). Also included free for guests at the two Disney resort hotels (Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and Toy Story Hotel). That first hour is when headliner wait times are lowest — I always recommend it for families.
3. Standby Pass — A free reservation system for select rides and shows, available in the official app. You reserve a time slot to enter the queue, and then you still wait in line to ride. Not offered every day, and slots run out fast.
4. Single Rider — A free, separate queue for guests willing to ride alone (your group will not sit together). Available on Zootopia and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Single Rider lines are not always open and depend on crowd levels. They may close when the queue becomes too long.
5. Arrive early — Even without Early Park Entry, arriving 30–45 minutes before opening lets you be among the first through the gates. Head to your top-priority ride immediately — you can often finish two headliners before 10 AM, saving 90+ minutes of combined wait time.

Which Bundle Should You Buy?

Not every bundle includes Zootopia — and that matters, because Zootopia has the longest wait in the park. The 3-ride bundles do not include Zootopia. If Zootopia is on your list (and for most visitors it should be), start at the 6-ride tier.

My recommendation: the Adventure Set of 6. It covers the three rides where DPA matters most — Zootopia, TRON, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train — plus three more. The 8, 11, and 15-ride tiers add rides that rarely have long waits on their own. I have never felt the need to go beyond 6.

The Carefree Set of 6 is the better pick for families with small children — it swaps TRON and Seven Dwarfs for Pirates, Soaring and gentler rides. Zootopia and Pirates still need 81 cm and Soaring needs 102 cm, so check your child’s height first.

The Carefree Set of 8 is my choice for weekends and holidays when even secondary rides start building 45-minute waits. It adds TRON back in alongside the Carefree selection.

The Deluxe tiers (11 and 15) are a different category entirely. The 11 covers 9 rides and the 15 covers 13 rides, and both add reserved viewing areas for the parade and nighttime fireworks. Early Park Entry is included when your ticket and purchase timing meet the product rules. They are expensive, and overkill for most visits. But if you are visiting during Golden Week or Chinese New Year and want the shortest possible waits, the option is there.

How DPA Saves You Time

DPA saves the most time on Zootopia: Hot Pursuit (about 75 minutes saved on an average busy day), Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (75 minutes), and TRON Lightcycle Power Run (65 minutes). Soaring Over the Horizon saves about 60 minutes. For Pirates of the Caribbean and Winnie the Pooh, the saving is smaller — around 35 minutes each — since their standby waits rarely exceed 40 minutes.

On an average busy day, without DPA you will spend 3–4 hours in queues for just the top three rides. The Adventure Set of 6 costs about ¥800 and saves you roughly 5 hours of standing. For a one-day visit, that trade-off is easy.

On weekends, holidays, and seasonal events — DPA is worth it. On quiet weekdays outside school holidays, headliner wait times rarely exceed 60 minutes — DPA adds little value in those conditions. Save it for weekends and peak periods.

If you have a two-day ticket visiting on quiet weekdays, you can spread the headliners across both mornings and skip DPA entirely. On a two-day weekend visit, DPA for Zootopia alone is still worth considering.

Prices vary by date and demand. The tables below show starting prices as of April 2026. Klook and Trip.com offer ticket + DPA bundles which are consistently cheaper than the official site and accept international credit cards, so you avoid the 3% fee that comes with paying more than ¥200 through Alipay or WeChat Pay on a foreign card.

On a ¥1,200 DPA bundle paid in the official app with Alipay and a foreign card, the 3% adds about ¥36, since it applies to the full amount. Your card issuer may also add 1–3% for foreign transactions. Payments of ¥200 or less carry no app fee, and new users might be offered a temporary fee waiver.

2. Choose a ticket + DPA bundle, or a standalone DPA bundle if you already have tickets.
3. Enter your passport details at checkout if purchase with tickets.
4. You will receive a confirmation email.

You still need to link your DPA in the Shanghai Disney Resort Official app, but you can do it after you land in China which often makes the process smoother.

Path 2: In the Official App (On the Day)

If you want to buy individual ride passes or decide on the day, you can purchase DPA through the official Shanghai Disney Resort app after entering the park.

1. Download the official app and create an account using your phone number (SMS verification required — read our “Do You Need to Setup the App?” section for workarounds).
2. On the main page, choose Disney Premier Access.
3. Check for attraction availability
4. Pre-link your ticket using your passport number or Scan the QR code on your park ticket after entering the park. You can link companions and purchase for your whole group.
5. Complete payment — the app accepts Alipay, WeChat Pay, and some international credit cards (though card linking can be inconsistent). Note: with a foreign card, Alipay and WeChat Pay charge 3% on the whole payment once it passes ¥200, plus your card issuer’s own foreign transaction fee.

Whichever way you opt to use, you’ll still need to register on the official app and link your ticket. The advantage of buying through Klook, or Trip.com is timing — you can skip the verification hassle at home and handle it once you’re in mainland China, where SMS codes come through much more reliably.

How to Use DPA in the Park

Using DPA at Shanghai Disneyland is straightforward. Each attraction with DPA has a dedicated Premier Access entrance — a separate lane next to the regular standby queue, marked with signage.

Ride DPA at Shanghai Disneyland has no return window. You can use it from the start time shown on your pass until that ride closes. Show DPA is different: it has a set time, so check your pass.

1. Open the Shanghai Disney Resort app and go to your DPA purchases.
2. At the ride, find the Premier Access entrance and show the QR code on your phone to the cast member.
3. They scan it, you walk in. Typical wait in the Premier Access lane is 5–15 minutes on a normal busy day, up to 20–30 minutes during peak holidays.

Once you’re through the gate, a paper ticket prints on the spot. It’s a useful backup — if your phone dies or the app acts up, the paper ticket works at the Disney Premier Access entrance too.

With the Adventure Set of 6, I finished six rides — TRON, Zootopia, Seven Dwarfs, Roaring Rapids, Challenge Trails, Buzz Lightyear — before 2 PM, with energy left for the parade and fireworks. Without DPA on a previous weekday visit, two rides took the entire morning.

If your group meets the height requirements and you are visiting for one day, the Adventure Set of 6 is what I would buy. It covers the three rides where waits hurt the most, plus three more that round out a full day.

Here is how I would plan it: book your ticket + Adventure Set bundle on Klook or Trip.com at least a few days out → arrive 45 minutes before opening → head to whichever headliner is not covered by your DPA first (Pirates is my pick) → let Premier Access handle the rest.
