Universal Beijing Genshin Impact Event: A Traveler’s Guide to Mondstadt

You can now walk through the gates of Mondstadt, take commissions from Katheryne, and get scolded by Fischl for calling her Amy — all inside a theme park. Universal Beijing Resort has opened a Genshin Impact interactive zone as part of its Universal Infinite Spring seasonal event, running March 20 through May 31, 2026, with a separate ticket required on top of park entry.

Quick Take
📅 Event start: March 20, 2026 (runs through May 31)
🎠 Must-see: Immersive Mondstadt street with live character interactions, commission quest system with collectible rewards
Best time to visit: Weekdays in April or early May — full experience running, lighter crowds than opening weeks
🎟️ Admission: the Genshin Impact zone requires a separate ticket (¥298/person, includes two ¥50 vouchers)

What’s New

A walkable Mondstadt, built from scratch. The zone, officially called “Celebration! Boom Boom Action”, is located between the Transformers and Kung Fu Panda areas (the site of the former House 81). The space has been transformed into a Mondstadt city block with cobblestone paths, overhead flags, wine barrels, windmills, and a functioning Cat’s Tail Tavern.

Live characters roam the streets on schedule. The cast includes Klee, Fischl, Wagner, Varka, Kaeya, Noelle, Donna, and Katheryne.

Each NPC stays in character. Fischl insists you call her “Prinzessin der Verurteilung,” Wagner teases you about your answers, and if you try to skip dialogue with Katheryne, she drops her smile. The character schedule is posted on a map inside the zone, so you don’t need to camp and wait.

A playable commission system. This isn’t a walk-through photo exhibition. You receive a physical materials envelope at check-in (zone map, random transparent character card, traveller tag, and a game redemption code) and pick up four commissions across the zone:

  1. Wagner at the Blacksmith — sends you to Cat’s Tail Tavern to count cats and identify the colour of a gemstone beside the Little Prince. Answers change daily.
  2. Donna at Flora’s Flower Shop — a stamp-hunt for Crystal Chunks. Five layered stamps, each unique, hidden across the zone.
  3. Shuyin near Cat’s Tail — count the Philanemo Mushrooms scattered around the area. Numbers change daily.
  4. Timaeus at the Crafting Bench — another stamp-hunt, this time for Whopperflower stamps. Same layered mechanic.

Complete each commission and earn a sticker. Collect all four and report to Katheryne for a bookmark with a game redemption code. All four commissions report finishing in about 50 minutes at a comfortable pace.

Ball-throwing mini-game. Near the zone entrance, a Jumpy Dumpty throwing game costs around ¥30 (or less with the included vouchers). Land a shot and you win a Klee Jumpy Dumpty plush charm. Miss, and you still walk away with a sticker.

Fountain performance finale. Each session ends with a choreographed show at the central fountain — secure front-row spots for the visual highlight. The performance runs roughly 10–15 minutes.

What This Means for Your Visit

Best window: weekdays from early April through mid-May. The opening weeks (late March) saw merchandise selling out within the first hour and long queues to enter. By April, availability should stabilise, and weekday sessions will have noticeably shorter character interaction lines.

Pick your session carefully. Three sessions run daily: 11:30–13:30, 14:15–16:15, and 17:00–19:00. The midday session gets warm — the zone is partly outdoors with limited shade. The afternoon session (14:15) hits a good balance between temperature and energy. The evening session offers the best lighting for photos but the shortest post-event daylight for park rides afterward.

If you’re a dedicated Traveller who wants commissions, character photos, and shopping — arrive at least one hour before your session starts. Queuing begins early, and the first wave in gets first pick at the merchandise shop (Mondstadt General Goods). Shop clears out of single-item merchandise by the final hour, with only blind-box badge pulls remaining.

If you’re not a Genshin player but enjoy immersive walk-throughs and NPC interactions, the zone still works — but temper expectations. The commission quests assume some familiarity with the game world, and the emotional payoff of seeing Klee walk up to you hits differently if you know who she is.

If you just want a taste without buying a zone ticket, some Genshin-themed merchandise and food items are available outside the zone in the regular park area.

No restrooms inside the zone. Use the facilities before entering.

Crowd warning: Labour Day Golden Week (early May) will spike attendance across the entire park. If your dates are flexible, avoid the May 1–5 window.

Merchandise highlights:

  • Klee pendant — the most sought-after item. Sells out fast.
  • Dodoco pouch and Rex Lapis coin purse — zone-exclusive, only available at Mondstadt General Goods inside the zone.
  • Blind-box badge pulls — the last items standing when shelves empty.
  • Commemorative coins — available via queue purchase (vouchers accepted), but the vending machines do not accept voucher deductions.

Strategy: If merchandise is your priority, enter and head straight to the shop before starting commissions. The quest system and character interactions aren’t going anywhere, but stock is.

My Take

This is not a pop-up photo wall with a Genshin logo on it. Universal Beijing built a walkable Mondstadt where actors stay in character, the commission system works, and the physical detail delivers the “game came to life” feeling most IP events promise but miss.

The ¥298 price tag (on top of park admission) is a tough sell for non-players. But if you’ve spent time in Mondstadt and want to take commissions from Katheryne, get ambushed by Klee, and watch Fischl break character — this is the first time it’s been possible at this scale.

My first visit to Disneyland at age 10 left me terrified. When I returned as a teenager, something shifted — not a love for Disney, but a fascination with how these places are built to make you feel things. The queue that builds tension before you board. The lighting that tells your body to relax. The finale that earns its emotional payoff.
I’ve spent years years writing opinionated planning guides and park coverage — first in Traditional Chinese, and since 2023, in English — focused on SHDR, HKDL, and UBJ. I write for travelers who want more than a list of rides: honest recommendations, specific timing advice, and a perspective on why these experiences work the way they do.
