The best strategy: combine Early Park Entry with the Adventure Set of 6 DPA bundle. On my last visit using this combination, I finished 10 attractions and both shows by 5 PM — with time for the parade and a proper dinner.

Here are all the ways to reduce your wait times, ranked by impact:

1. Disney Premier Access (DPA) — Paid skip-the-line passes. Buy for a single ride (from CNY 140) or in bundles covering 3–15 attractions. This is the main line-skipping option and the focus of this guide.
2. Early Park Entry Pass — Enter up to one hour before general opening for CNY 199. Also included free for guests at the two Disney resort hotels (Shanghai Disneyland Hotel and Toy Story Hotel). That first hour is when headliner wait times are lowest — I always recommend it for families.
3. Standby Pass — A free reservation system for select rides during peak hours, available in the official app. You reserve a return time instead of standing in line. Not offered every day, and slots run out fast.
4. Single Rider — A free, separate queue for guests willing to ride alone (your group will not sit together). Available on TRON, Zootopia, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.  Single Rider lines are not always open and depend on crowd levels. They may close when the queue becomes too long.
5. Arrive early — Even without Early Park Entry, arriving 30–45 minutes before opening lets you be among the first through the gates. Head to your top-priority ride immediately — you can often finish two headliners before 10 AM, saving 90+ minutes of combined wait time.

Which Bundle Should You Buy?

Not every bundle includes Zootopia — and that matters, because Zootopia has the longest wait in the park. The 3-ride bundles do not include Zootopia. If Zootopia is on your list (and for most visitors it should be), start at the 6-ride tier.

My recommendation: the Adventure Set of 6. It covers the three rides where DPA matters most — Zootopia, TRON, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train — plus three more. The 8, 11, and 15-ride tiers add rides that rarely have long waits on their own. I have never felt the need to go beyond 6.

The Carefree Set of 6 is the better pick for families with small children — it swaps TRON and Seven Dwarfs (both have height restrictions) for Pirates and gentler rides with no height requirement.

The Carefree Set of 8 is my choice for weekends and holidays when even secondary rides start building 45-minute waits. It adds TRON back in alongside the Carefree selection.

The Deluxe tiers (11 and 15) are a different category entirely. On top of near-total ride coverage, they include Early Park Entry and reserved viewing areas for the parade and nighttime fireworks. They are expensive, and overkill for most visits. But if you are visiting during Golden Week or Chinese New Year and want zero compromise on wait times, the option is there.

How DPA Saves You Time

DPA saves the most time on Zootopia: Hot Pursuit (about 75 minutes saved on an average busy day), Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (75 minutes), and TRON Lightcycle Run (65 minutes). Soaring Over the Horizon saves about 60 minutes. For Pirates of the Caribbean and Winnie the Pooh, the saving is smaller — around 35 minutes each — since their standby waits rarely exceed 40 minutes.

On an average busy day, without DPA you will spend 3–4 hours in queues for just the top three rides. The Adventure Set of 6 costs about CNY 800 and saves you roughly 5 hours of standing. For a one-day visit, that trade-off is easy.

On weekends, holidays, and seasonal events — DPA is worth it. On a quiet weekday outside school holidays — you probably do not need it. I have done full days in March and November without DPA and rode everything with waits under 30 minutes. If you have a two-day ticket, you can spread the headliners across both days and skip DPA entirely.

This is the easiest option for international visitors. Both platforms accept international credit cards, skip the SMS verification that blocks many foreign visitors from the official app, and let you lock in your bundle before your trip.

3. Enter your passport details at checkout.
4. You will receive a confirmation with a QR code. Show it at the Premier Access entrance on the day.

If you want to buy individual ride passes or decide on the day, you can purchase DPA through the official Shanghai Disney Resort app after entering the park.

1. Download the official app and create an account using your phone number (SMS verification required — this can be unreliable with foreign numbers).
2. On the main page, tap “Store” → “Services” → choose Disney Premier Access.
3. Select your attraction and check the available times.
4. Scan the QR code on your park ticket or link your ticket using your passport number. You can link companions and purchase for your whole group.

3. They scan it, you walk in. Typical wait in the Premier Access lane is 5–15 minutes on a normal busy day, up to 20–30 minutes during peak holidays.

DPA at Shanghai Disneyland is not time-slotted — once you have bought it for a ride, you can use it any time that day. There are no return windows to manage.
